Bad News Bearers Process Service was established by David Kreucher in April of 1986. Mr. Kreucher started as a sole practitioner until the business grew to a point of hiring dedicated process servers to help further build the business.
Bad News Bearers established a reputation of being able to record legal documents in various courts in the Detroit Metropolitan area under last minute conditions.
Here is one of our favorite stories:
I was hired to serve a summons and complaint upon the president of a company, we will call him Mr. Michaels. When I received the documents for service the attorney informed me that I would probably not be able to make service, as we tried another process server and he wasn't able to serve it but the Judge wanted us to try one other process server before we could get an order for alternate service entered.
So I decided to go home and put on a suit and tie and I placed the summons and complaint in a briefcase, I then approached a receptionist at the corporation he owned and I explained that I was David Kreucher from the State of Michigan. The receptionist then nervously asked me for a business card and I said that I had ran out and new ones were on order, but that it was very important that I speak with Mr. Michaels. After several minutes and two phone calls the receptionist escorted me to his office.
When he stood up to greet me and shake my hand he asked what was this all about, I said "I'm sorry to inform you that I have a summons and complaint with your name on it." He exclaimed "You said you were from the State of Michigan!" I replied "I am. I was born and raised here." Needless to say the attorney was very happy with me when I returned with an affidavit of service and a physical description of Mr. Michaels.
